CampVentures is a true seed-stage venture capital firm. We engage with great companies in their earliest stages of development. For such companies, we lead seed rounds on the order of $500K to $1.5M. Once invested, we work intensely with our companies to prepare them for their next rounds of financing, which are nearly universally led by top-tier venture capital firms.

We have seeded deals for Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Sequoia Capital, Sevin Rosen Funds, Matrix Partners, Interwest Partners, Greylock Partners, August Capital, Trinity Ventures, VantagePoint Venture Partners, and many other blue chip firms. We also "hold back" sufficient capital, in order to participate alongside these firms in all future rounds of financing.

Our goal is to be the firm of choice for the very best entrepreneurs with the very best ideas, who are just getting their companies off the ground.

Band of Angels Fund

The Band of Angels is Silicon Valley's oldest organization still dedicated exclusively to funding and advising seed stage startups. The Band is a formal group of more than 100 former and current high tech executives who are interested in investing their time and money into new, cutting edge, startup companies. Band members have founded companies such as Symantec, Logitech, and National Semiconductor and been senior executives at the likes of Sun Microsystems, Hewlett Packard, and Intuit. The Band meets monthly to formally consider three startups selected from among the more than 50 that are screened each month by the Band Deal Selection Process. Entrepreneurs can expect a thorough examination and, occasionally, an investment from some of Silicon Valley's most accomplished entrepreneurs.

Jerry Held

Jerry Held has been a successful entrepreneur, executive, and investor in Silicon Valley for the past 35 years. He led the initial implementation of the INGRES relational database management system in 1973–75 while completing his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley. He then joined Tandem Computers, where he led the development of Tandem’s relational database products as well as corporate strategy and venture investments. From 1993–97, Dr. Held managed the world’s leading database business as senior vice president of Oracle Corporation’s server products division, including some of the earliest e-commerce application trials. He is now CEO of Held Consulting Group, advising CEOs and senior executives of technology firms ranging from startups to very large organizations. He is currently chairman of Software Development Technologies and is a board member of Business Objects, Openwave, Mirapoint, and MetaMatrix.
